Pet Application

Tenants are required to seek the lessor’s consent to keep a pet at the rental property.

Lessors can provide approval subject to reasonable conditions as agreed with the tenant, or refuse the request only based on specific reasons under tenancy legislation.

I’m a tenant – I would like to keep a pet in the rental property during my tenancy

During your tenancy, you can seek approval from the lessor to keep a pet at the rental property by completing a Request for approval to keep a pet in a rental property (Form 21) which can be downloaded from the RTA here.

RTA Form 21
This form can be emailed to our office or uploaded using the form below.
More information required?

The RTA provide a fact sheet detailing the pet application process and the appropriate action required by tenants and lessors.

RTA Fact Sheet
Strata-Titled Properties (Body Corporate)

If you live in a strata-titled property the body corporate will have guidelines and a specific approval process to allow a pet to be kept on a lot. This is in addition to the lessor’s approval.

Generally, you will be required to complete a separate application directly to the body corporate manager.
